Three Simple Rituals for New Moon Magic
New Moons are a potent resource for manifestation magic. This lunation represents new beginnings and fresh starts.
This is an opportunity to reflect on what has been working for you, release what has not, and set intentions that reflect your goals. Think of this cycle as a door opening, inviting you in towards a new adventure that is more aligned. Take an authoritative role in this energy by participating in ritual under this New Moon. To keep up with the moon phases, use a lunar calendar.
The Moon is a timeless celestial body that governs over our emotional landscapes, and this magical being is here and ready to collaborate with you. Here are some ways you can dive into ritual during the New Moon to invite in optimistic transformation!
Ritual Infused Moon Water:
What You Need:
- A glass jar with a lid
- I prefer mason jars so I can date + write intention with ease
- Water
- Incense
- A sharpie/ pen & paper
Creating Moon Water is a simple way to source this magic for later use.
Begin this ritual by bringing all of your tools together. Start off by cleansing your tools with a smoke bundle or incense. Once you've cleansed your tools, fill up your mason jar with water. As you fill your glass, visualise all that you desire coming towards you with the support of the Moon.
Now that your jar is filled, find a space the Moon is present. This could be outside in, or safe on a window sill. Anywhere the Moon reaches is ideal! Write down your intention on the cap of your mason jar with a sharpie, or write down your intention on a piece of paper. This could be anything you like, the Moon is here to support you. For example "The Moon supports me as I manifest my desires." Speak your intention out loud to your water, repeat at least three times before placing your mason jar in the space you've chosen. Let your water absorb the magic of this lunation for atleast 3hrs to charge, ideally before the Sun rises.
Before you collect your Moon Water, thank the Moon for sharing their potent energy with you. You can use this water to drink, create your own energetic room and body sprays, or to cleanse with. Similar to the magic of the Moon, the possibilites are endless.
Do a Manifestation Ritual:
What You’ll Need:
- A journal (you will be ripping a page out)
- Something to write with
- A quiet and cozy environment
Begin by creating a comforting atmosphere in your bedroom. Tidy up your space to dispel any distractions that might creep in as you dive into this spell. Remove any clutter in your space with pleasure, if you don't feel strongly inclined to put something away or organize, trust that gut feeling and move on to something you feel more excited about.
Envision Your Wildest Dreams:
As you sit in bed, imagine what your perfect day looks like. When does your day begin? How does it end? What habits or activities would you like added or removed from your routine? Allow yourself to fully submerge in this fantasy. Taste the meals you envision dining on, smell the scents of fresh flowers that waft over you when a warm breeze passes you by, hear the laughter of your loved ones at a gathering, and feel the exhilarating joy that builds up within you as you embark on a new adventure. Allow yourself the freedom to be expansive with your dreams; no desire is too big, and you are worthy of all that your heart craves. Grant yourself permission to succumb to your wants and feel them fully throughout your body.
Scribe Your Hearts Desires:
Hold the visions that came to you in mind as you grasp your writing utensil and journal. Begin to write down your vision, reliving each moment. Be as detailed as possible, start with how your day begins. Think about how you feel upon waking up; are you well rested and ready to jump out of bed, or do you slowly slip out of sleep and slowly unfurl to begin your day? Paint a picture so real and vibrant you can feel each and every moment you write down. Be very intentional as you write, and remember, no desire is too big to include. End this scribing session but writing about going to sleep, how you feel as your head rests on your pillow, and the feeling that overtakes you as you drift off to sleep.
Closing the Ritual:
Close this circle by reading over your writing. Once again, take your time with this exercise. Makes space for your feelings. Once you have finished reading, remove your writing from your journal, and place these sheets of paper underneath your pillow; turn off any lights, and drift off to sleep. Maintain this energy by reading this writing every morning and every night.
Try your best to incorporate this dream day into your waking life; any step you take is important. As you explore your dream day, feel free to make any changes or adjustments to your writing as you may find some of the things you have written aren't as ideal as you thought.
Create a Vision Board:
What You’ll Need:
1. Art supplies
2. A poster board
3. Paper
4. Scissors
5. A Candle
6. A quiet, comfortable space where you won't be disturbed
(If creating a physical board isn't accesible Pinterest has an amazing collage feature! You could make this collage your phone background or print it out.)
Create Your Sacred Space:
Find a space in your home that you feel free and open in. This could be your bedroom floor, living room, or a secret third place only you know about. Once you’ve found this inspiring spot, light some incense to cleanse this space of unwanted energy that could block your creativity. As you cleanse your space, consider circling the incense around your own body to cleanse yourself as well. As you do this, release feelings of anxiety, doubt, and fear. Your goals are achievable, you can trust that you can achieve all that you set out to. Feel free to play music that makes you dance, inspires you, and makes you feel good!
Create Your Vision Board:
Take a look at all the art supplies and tools you have available to you, and simply have fun creating. Vision boards are such an incredible source of magic because they are created by you, for you. This vision board is a physical manifestation of your hopes, wishes, goals, and your life source. Don't box yourself in as you create your vision board, cover your poster in colors you enjoy, images that inspire you, and text that resonates. This is magic that can be added to and adjusted over time. As you look to your intentions to inspire you as you create your board, keep the extra 6 nearby to be unfurled as you achieve your goals. Adjust your vision board as your intentions change! Place your vision board somewhere you will see often; by your mirror, across from your bed, or even your front door. Choose a spot that you spend time in consistently.
Candle Lighting:
Once you have completed the creation of your vision board, light a candle of your choice, a simple chime candle would be great for this ritual. I recommend using white, yellow, gold, or orange. Each of these colors have associations with joy, abundance, and confidence. This candle breathes life into your vision board, all the magic you've been generating is now being output to the Universe! Thank this candle for their help in activating this magic and let them burn until you see fit. Light this candle each time you achieve a goal, and thank them for helping you along your journey.
Closing the Ritual:
When you are ready to blow your candle out and close this ritual, speak aloud "I trust that with your Light all of my wildest visions will come true." As you blow out your candle, envision your vision board taking a deep breathe and exhaling. Breathe alongside your vision board, linking you together.
As you dive in to these rituals while being empowered by the magic of the Moon, be sure to reflect on the magic that exists in you.
New Moon magic is a call to reflect on the magic that exists in your being and to release what no longer aligns so you can continue to grow. This transformation is happening no matter what, but it's up to you to hone in on this energy and expand on it. By partaking in ritual, you are channeling the magic of the New Moon to bring forth the fresh start the Universe is already sending to you. Inviting in intentionality on this day is choosing to take control of the journey you are on, rather than being an impartial passenger. You are making leaps and bounds in this life, enjoy this day and embody this magic fully trusting the very real possibilty that everything you have ever wanted is already on its way.
