Planetary Rulers + Spells for the Days of The Week

Planetary Rulers + Spells for the Days of The Week

Look to the days of the week to create structure for ritual, routine, and intention. Each day of the week is ruled by a different Planet, providing an easeful resource to inspire your daily practices and spell work. You can personalize this by finding your chart ruler to see what Planet energizes your unique natal chart.

To find your chart ruler look to your rising sign or ascendant. Once you find your rising sign, see what planet rules over that sign. For example, if you are a Virgo rising, Mercury would be your chart ruler. To find your ascendant, create a birth chart for free at astro-seek.com or book a reading for a more personal approach! Once you know your chart ruler, you can intentionally plan rituals alongside the planetary rulers of the days of the week to help you expand your own magic, your relationship with yourself, and to live your life in alignment with the Planets that naturally guide you.

Sun Day (Sunday) Ritual:

Leo

You can look to the day of the Sun as an opportunity to embrace joy, radiant light, exuberant confidence, and community. This is a day to revel in the magic that exists within and to expand that light, letting it shine upon yourself and stretch out over your loved ones.

What You'll Need:

  • Citrus fruit such as an orange or lemon
  • Cinnamon
  • A small orange chime candle
  • A note book and something to write with

This is a simple solar empowerment ritual intended to reconnect you to your inner light. Begin this ritual by lighting your orange candle and placing it somewhere safe before you. Hold your citrus fruit in your hands and take a few deep breaths. Allow yourself to settle into the present moment and reflect on the parts of yourself that deserve celebration.

As you hold your fruit, think about the qualities within yourself that make you shine. These can be personality traits, accomplishments, dreams, talents, or even small victories you’ve overlooked. The Sun reminds us that confidence is not arrogance, it is the willingness to witness ourselves fully and still choose to radiate.

Next, sprinkle a small amount of cinnamon onto your citrus fruit while affirming aloud: “I welcome joy, confidence, and abundance into my life.” Cinnamon is often associated with abundance, attraction, warmth, and vitality, making it a beautiful companion for solar magic.

Open your notebook and write down three things you genuinely love about yourself. If this feels difficult, allow this ritual to become an act of practicing softness rather than perfection. You are not required to have all the answers today. Let this simply be a moment of witnessing yourself with kindness.

Once complete, peel and eat your citrus fruit slowly and intentionally, imagining the warmth and radiance of the Sun filling your body with light. As you close your ritual, thank yourself for showing up fully and affirm: “I allow myself to take up space. My light deserves to be seen.”

Moon Day (Monday) Ritual:

Cancer

You can look to the day of the Moon as an opportunity to let your emotions lead you today. Allow this day to illuminate your emotional landscape and tend to the feelings that come up. This is a day to be introspective, to fully embrace the depths of your emotion, and grant them permission to take up space in your life. Witness the feelings you shy away from with bravery, and honor this part of yourself with intention.

What You'll Need:

  • A mirror
  • A black or dark blue candle
  • A dry erase marker

This is a simple reflection ritual to embrace your emotional being this week. Begin this ritual in a private room with a mirror. This could be a hand held mirror or something larger. Open this ritual space by lighting your candle. Place this flame somewhere fire safe and accessible to you before sitting before your mirror and looking at your reflection.

As you study your mirrored image, think about the messages you'd like to share with yourself. Hold yourself gently as you peer at your own gaze. What do you see? What are you feeling? What does this mirrored image of you need? As you commune with your reflection, ponder about an affirmation that can support you as you navigate the days ahead.

For example, if you are noticing a tiredness in your being and a desire for rest, perhaps "I invite in and embrace opportunities for soothing repair" could be an affirmation that can keep you in relationship to your emotional needs.

Once an affirmation comes to you, write this onto your mirror with a dry erase marker. Each day as you look at your reflection, read this affirmation and let it guide you as reminder to tend to the parts of yourself you may usually ignore.

Mars Day (Tuesday) Ritual:

Aries & Scorpio

You can look to the day of Mars as an opportunity to move with drive, vigor, and passion. I refer to this day as "get shit done day" as this day is the ideal time to take action and get active. Allow this day to motivate you to complete tasks you've procrastinated and get outside. This is a day to live somatically and give your body space to move organically, find ways to integrate movement in your day and always celebrate each action you complete.

What You'll Need:

  • An empty space
  • A speaker, radio, anything you can play music with

This is a simple embodiment ritual. Begin this ritual by opening up your windows so that the energy in your space can move freely. Next, turn on some music that brings you joy. Any genre is fine, as long as it inspires some form of movement. Once you've cued up a playlist, turn up your music as far as you feel comfortable (I recommend loud) and affirm out loud "I trust the actions of my body's intuitive wisdom."

Let your body move without care. Release thought, release structure, release perfection; simply take action. Give your body permission to move in silly ways, ways you might feel embarrassed to experience even in solitude. This is a safe space, there is no judgement here. Trust in your environment and let loose! In moments you find yourself procrastinating or avoiding taking action out of fear or judgement, return to this moment and affirm: "I trust the actions of my body's intuitive wisdom."

Mercury Day (Wednesday) Ritual:

Gemini & Virgo

You can look to the day of Mercury as an opportunity to challenge your mind, evolve your communication, and to traverse new spaces whether that be intellectually or physically. Allow this day to inspire you to communicate more effectively, learn something new and share your acquired wisdom with your community. Be inspired by this Mercurial energy to be curious, detail-oriented, and allow yourself to be a student for the day.

What You'll Need:

  • 10 to 15 minutes
  • A pen & paper
  • Tape
  • Your laptop, phone, or notebook (or all three)

This is a simple sigil crafting ritual to invite in knowledge. Begin by grabbing the tools you tend to use for research, studying, information keeping, etc., such as your laptop, phone, or a notebook. You can cast this spell on each of these items or choose one, that is up to you. Next, create an affirmation or choose a word to spell your tools with. For example, "I am open to receive new knowledge" or simply the word "knowledge." Choose something that aligns with your intellectual goals.

To create a sigil, write down your word or affirmation on a sheet of paper. Cross out any letters that are vowels and repeating letters. Once you have your remaining letters, you can use a witch's wheel or curate your own design. If any of these steps feels overwhelming, try this sigil generator tool for ease. Once you have created your sigil, write it down on a sheet of paper and tape it to the back of the tools you use to acquire information. You could secure your sigil to the bottom of your laptop, to the back of your phone safely secured within your phone case, or the back of your notebook. If you feel really inspired, you could even adorn yourself with your sigil while studying with a pen or sharpie.

Jupiter Day (Thursday) Ritual:

Sagittarius & Pisces

You can look to the day of Jupiter as an opportunity to grow. This planet rules over expansion and evolution making this the ideal time to expand your horizons, manifest your desires, and be adventurous in your pursuits. Allow this day to remind you that you are worthy of each and every one of your pursuits. Trust in your ability to grow and expand in ways you might not even expect to. Growth is intuitive, lean into your dreams.

What You'll Need:

  • Closed toed shoes
  • A small piece of paper
  • A pencil

This is a simple journey ritual to invite expansion into your life. Begin this ritual by writing down a desire, dream, or goal onto your piece of paper. This does not need to be elaborate, it can be as simple as “I welcome new opportunities” or “I trust myself to grow.” Fold this paper and place it into your shoe before leaving your home for the day.

As you walk, reflect on what expansion means to you. Notice the world around you. Observe the people, sounds, colors, and opportunities that exist beyond your usual focus. Let this walk become symbolic of your willingness to move toward growth rather than away from it. Even if your journey is brief, allow yourself to remain present and receptive.

When you return home, remove the paper from your shoe and place it somewhere meaningful such as your altar, wallet, journal, or beside your bed. Revisit this intention whenever you need a reminder that growth begins with movement.

Venus Day (Friday) Ritual:

Libra & Taurus

You can look to the day of Venus as an opportunity to lean into collaborative care, love, companionship, and aesthetics. This is a day of luxury, play, the romanticization of your life, and community. Allow this day to be a day of spoiling, spoil yourself and your loved ones. Be expressive of your care for yourself and others, remember, compliments are free and always appreciated.

What You'll Need:

  • Your beautiful self
  • A sweet treat
  • 30+ minutes

This is a simple pleasure ritual intended to reconnect you to softness and joy. Begin by choosing a sweet treat you genuinely enjoy. This could be chocolate, fruit, pastries, tea, coffee, or anything that feels indulgent and comforting to you. Before consuming your treat, pause and express gratitude for the moment you are creating for yourself.

As you eat or drink, do so slowly and intentionally. Avoid distractions if possible. Let yourself fully savor each bite, texture, and flavor. Reflect on the ways you deny yourself pleasure throughout the week and consider how you might invite more softness into your daily life.

Once your treat is finished, offer yourself kindness in another form. This could be adorning yourself with jewelry, taking a luxurious shower, texting someone you love, moisturizing your skin slowly, creating art, cleaning your space, or resting without guilt. Venus reminds us that pleasure is sacred and care is a form of magic.

Saturn Day (Saturday) Ritual:

Capricorn & Aquarius

You can look to the day of Saturn as a day of preparation. This is a day of foundation building, planning, structure, and discipline. Allow this day to be a day that sets you up for success for the rest of the week. Take an objective look at what you can complete on this day that will allow you to rest, play, and focus the rest of this week. Establish routines for the week, and don't be afraid to create new structures that differ from your usual habits.

What You'll Need:

  • Incense
  • 15 to 20 minutes
  • A quiet or calm environment

This is a simple grounding ritual intended to strengthen your foundation. Begin by lighting your incense and allowing the smoke to move throughout your space. As the scent fills the room, reflect on the structures in your life that currently support you and the ones that may need more reinforcement.

Sit quietly with a notebook or simply with your thoughts and ask yourself: “What can I do today that will support the version of myself I am becoming?” Allow practical answers to arise. This may include cleaning your space, preparing meals, organizing your schedule, setting boundaries, or completing tasks you’ve been avoiding.

Choose one realistic task that will make your upcoming week feel more supported and complete it intentionally. Saturn energy is not about perfection, it is about devotion and consistency. Honor yourself for every small action you take toward stability.

As you close this ritual, affirm: “I honor the structures that support my growth. I am capable of building a life that nurtures me.”

Working with planetary magic does not require perfection, expensive tools, or extensive knowledge.

The most powerful ingredient within any ritual is intention. By intentionally aligning yourself with the planetary rulers throughout the week, you create opportunities to better understand your needs, strengthen your intuition, and move through life with greater awareness and care.

Allow these rituals to evolve alongside you. Add to them, simplify them, or reshape them entirely to fit your practice and your lifestyle. Magic is deeply personal, and your relationship with the planets will naturally transform over time. Trust yourself within the process.
